Can Central Bank's purchase of dollar lead to inflation?

September 10, Fineko/abc.az. Central Bank's intervention in the purchase of dollars in the foreign exchange market is not only a matter of exchange rate policy, but also monetary policy itself.

When a dollar is bought from the market, an equivalent amount of manats simultaneously enters the financial system.

Excessive liquidity of manats in the banking system, in turn, can increase lending, which stimulates domestic demand and eventually leads to higher inflation.

For this reason, the Central Bank tries to maintain sensitive balance between the stability of the exchange rate and the price level.
