September 2, Fineko/abc.az. The VAT rules for Netflix, Zoom and ChatGPT have been changed, and the tax will now be charged by the platforms rather than by banks.

Member of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Tahir Mirkishili said this.

According to the MP, the new payment system will allow users to access the platforms at a lower cost.

“In practice, these rules will reduce users' expenses. Under the new rules, when paying for platforms registered in Azerbaijan for VAT purposes, banks will not withhold VAT from users. This means a reduction in the total monthly amount paid by users. The VAT amount that was previously withheld by the bank from users' accounts will now be paid by the digital platforms themselves,” he said.
