August 31, Fineko/abc.az. Gold prices fell below $4,400 per ounce following hawkish remarks by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole symposium.

His reaffirmation of the 2% inflation target increased the probability of an interest rate hike in September to more than 50%.

Silver, platinum and palladium also declined alongside gold. Analysts at GAMA Asset Management expect gold prices to stabilize in the $4,200–$4,300 per ounce range in the near term.

Nevertheless, gold has gained nearly 10% in August, supported by the US Treasury’s purchases of bonds and concerns over the national debt, posting its strongest monthly performance since January.
