July 24, Fineko/abc.az. Tehran has officially rejected Washington's ceasefire proposal, conveyed through Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi. Despite negotiations between the Iraqi delegation and the Iranian leadership, no agreement on ceasefire was reached.

The main point of contention remains the future of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran opposes the temporary agreements and demands a full-fledged agreement, fearing that the U.S. may use the pause in hostilities to strengthen its position.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump threatened to use frozen Iranian assets to compensate for the damage caused by Tehran's attacks in the Persian Gulf. He described the potential payments as fair, but did not specify which ships were affected.

Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi criticized the initiative, stating that confiscation of another country's assets would set a dangerous precedent. According to Araghchi, such steps only increase tensions and complicate diplomatic negotiations.
