July 7, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-May 2026, 564,237 people visited Azerbaijan for tourism purposes, of which 16,800 stayed in the country for only one day.

The State Statistics Committee informs that the indicator increased by 29.7% against Jan-May 2025.

14,381 people, or 85.6% of day-trippers, made a trip to Azerbaijan for transit purposes.

824 people visited Azerbaijan for business purposes (+73.8%), 808 people (+55%) - to visit relatives and friends, 664 people (-2.3%) for recreation and entertainment. In addition, 68 people (+33%) came to the country for shopping, and 55 people (twice as many) came for religious pilgrimages.

The largest number of one-day visitors came from Russia (5,040 people, +39.1%), Turkey (3,398 people, +65.4%), Georgia (745 people, +25%), and Iran (115 people, -47.9%).

4,159 Russian citizens (+38.8%) and 2,459 Turkish citizens (+62.8%) passed through Azerbaijan as transit passengers.

Over Jan-May 2026, one-day visitors spent 7,059,900 manats in the country as a whole (25.7% more against Jan-May 2025). Transportation services accounted for 5,666,300 manats, or 80.3% of the total spending (25.2% more against Jan-May 2025).
