June 24, Fineko/abc.az.For Jan-May 2026, the entire insurance market in Azerbaijan experienced significant positive growth, with both premiums and payouts increasing significantly. The life insurance sector was the main driver of overall market growth.

According to official reports, in the first 5 months of the year, country's insurers accumulated overall premiums of 732.6 million manats, and total sector payments grew by 30.1% year-on-year, reaching 409.6 million manats.

Indicators of the life insurance segment in the market structure:

• Fee dynamics: Life insurance premiums made up 55% of the overall market, growing by 13% (45.9 million manats) compared to Jan-May 2025 (353.4 million manats), up to 399.3 million manats.

• A sharp increase in payments: Life insurance payments increased by 41.6% (83.7 million manats) up to 284.7 million manats, accounting for the lion's share of the overall market-wide compensated losses (compared with 201 million manats a year earlier).
