According to ABC.AZ, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made these poignant remarks during his speech at the official opening ceremony of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Baku.

The Scale of Cultural Genocides: Reflecting on the heavy toll of the nearly three-decade-long occupation period across Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, the Head of State firmly asserted that Azerbaijan will never erase from memory the total razing and destruction of 65 mosques.
Desecration of Sacred Islamic Heritage: President Aliyev highlighted the severe violations of religious tolerance and cultural property by emphasizing that the occupying forces deliberately desecrated these holy sanctuaries by housing pigs and other animals inside the mosques. He stressed that such disrespectful acts against Islamic heritage will remain an indelible scar in the national memory.
