June 5, Fineko/abc.az. As of the end of April 2026, the number of transactions on American Express (AmEx) payment cards issued by resident financial organizations of Azerbaijan amounted to 4,900, and their total volume exceeded 600,000 manats.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to the report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, compared with Jan-May 2025, American Express cards from local banks recorded a noticeable decline:

Number of operations declined more than by 4,200 transactions, or 46%;

Volume of operations dropped more than by 500,000 manats, or by 45%.

Operations on non-resident cards:

Transactions on American Express cards issued by foreign (non-resident) banks and financial institutions were also recorded in Azerbaijan. The number of such operations reached 1,500, and their total volume reached 600,000 manats.
