June 2, Fineko/abc.az. The United States is interested in implementing new investment projects in Azerbaijan's energy sector and is working on concrete initiatives in this direction.
According to ABC.AZ, this was stated by Caleb Orr, US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs, during a press conference dedicated to the 1st Azerbaijan-US Economic Dialogue.
Caleb Orr noted that the goal of the dialogue is to bring economic proposals together, prepare an action plan for their execution, and achieve tangible results, as mutual interests and economic prosperity form the foundation of peace.
Key highlights from the press conference:
Operations of ExxonMobil and Chevron: US energy companies are already participating in vital projects in Azerbaijan. A meeting was held with ExxonMobil within the framework of the Baku Energy Week. Last year, the company signed a memorandum of understanding on new exploration activities in the country and is a shareholder in several major transit infrastructure projects. Additionally, Chevron signed a new study agreement during the Baku Energy Week. The US government supports the advancement of these specific projects.
A Greater Role in Infrastructure: In a broader sense, the US intends to increase its participation and play a greater role in the pipeline and other energy infrastructure built by Azerbaijan.
The Middle Corridor and Trump's Initiative: Washington expects Azerbaijan's position in transporting energy to European and other markets to strengthen further. "We think that through President Donald Trump's route for peace and prosperity, we can help Azerbaijan further enhance its role as a central hub of the Middle Corridor in transporting energy to Europe and other regions of the world," Caleb Orr emphasized.
Global Energy Security: Noting that Azerbaijan is currently an important energy producer for the world, the US official added that this cooperation is expected to expand significantly over the next few few years.
