May 26, Fineko/abc.az. Over the past two decades, overall investments raised for the Azerbaijani economy have exceeded $350 billion.

ABC.AZ informs that Yusif Abdullayev, the executive director of the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), said this as delivering speech at business panel on the theme "Investments in the Caspian Region".

According to Abdullayev, about half of the indicated volume was made up of foreign investments.

"Speech is about private investments. In the early 1990s, the oil sector was the main driver of Azerbaijan's economy. Large-scale infrastructure projects have been implemented in the country since the early 2000s. One of the key areas was the construction of gas pipelines, which gave a significant impetus to development of not only the oil industry, but also the gas industry," Abdullayev said.

AZPROMO’s head also stressed that one of the priorities of the state remains the further development of the non-oil sector of the economy.
