May 25, Fineko/abc.az. The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) transports oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz using "shadow transit", ABC.AZ reports, citing Bloomberg’s sources.
The company resorts to the so-called shadow transit, in which ships pass through the strait with their transponders turned off. Bloomberg notes that in this way, ADNOC continues to export oil, petroleum products and LNG, despite the tense situation in the region. According to agency sources, the company allegedly uses vessels associated with logistics operator Navig8 and chemical company Wanhua Chemical Group. After passing through the Strait of Hormuz, cargo is transferred to other ships off the coast near the ports of Fujairah in the UAE and Sohar in Oman, or sent to ports in India.
Bloomberg emphasizes that other Middle Eastern oil producers are also trying to keep supplies through the strait, but most of them depend on leased tankers and the caution of shipowners.
