May 19, Fineko/abc.az. The key issue is the introduction of new projects on creation of small-scale, economy-based and sustainable communities.
ABC.AZ Informs that Anar Guliyev, the national coordinator of the World Urban Planning Forum (WUF13) and chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning & Architecture made such a statement at an event on the theme "Cities at the center of connectivity: Urban reconstruction and regional cooperation" within WUF13 in Baku.
According to Guliyev, urban planners and architects from 12 different countries have participated in this process so far and contributed to integration of planning, modern infrastructure, economic responsibility and inclusive development:
"Azerbaijan is working to create sustainable connections and future-oriented communities throughout Central and Eastern Europe. We highly appreciate the international dialogue, cooperation and exchange of experience.
In the territories liberated from occupation, the projects of each village include educational, medical and administrative buildings, as well as full-fledged communication networks, including broadband Internet. Currently, about 20,000 people live in rural areas of the liberated territories. In reflection of the scale and intensity of the restoration process, construction work continues in more than 40 villages. Hundreds of new homes are being built as part of ongoing residential and infrastructure development programs. More than 85,000 people currently live, work and receive education in 10 cities, 3 towns and 30 villages in the regions of Karabakh and Zangezur," he said.
