May 8, Fineko/abc.az. Tajikistan is betting on the development of solar energy by signing an agreement with Ruftob. The project with capacity of up to 2 GW provides for investments of almost $1 billion and annual generation of nearly 3.5 billion kWh.

ABC.AZ informs that more than 500 jobs are expected to be created. The authorities expect to reduce dependence on hydropower, especially in winter, and diversify the energy mix.

With 280-300 sunny days a year, the country is actively developing renewable energy sources, including new 500 MW projects and initiatives like CASA-1000 and Rogun HPP. In the future, Tajikistan may become an exporter of "green" energy in the region.
