April 16, Fineko/abc.az. The commissioning of solar power plant Shafag in Jabrayil district of Azerbaijan is expected in mid-2027, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Javid Abdullayev, the director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources.

He added that at the end of November 2020, BP announced a decision to invest $200 million in the liberated territories.

"It was a very important and historic moment. We’ve been working on the occasion for a long time and tried to act as quickly as possible," Abdullayev said.

He also pointed out that the mechanisms for stimulating "green energy" have created certain technical difficulties.

"But we have to ask for their favor. We must understand what benefits the investor brings to us and optimize them from angle of Azerbaijan's economic interests. In any case, it was the beginning of the flow. Naturally, as other companies invest in this area, they will also carry out restoration work in these territories," Abdullayev said.
