April 3, Fineko/abc.az. By 2029, China intends to gradually decommission or modernize obsolete oil refineries using lists of facilities compiled by local authorities.
ABC.AZ reports that starting in 2024, annual inspections will be conducted to determine which plants need to be upgraded and which ones need to be closed.
The goal is to reduce refinery capacity to balance supply and demand in the petrochemical sector.
Last year, a large petrochemical complex, Yulong Petrochemical, was launched in the country, and this increased the need to close outdated plants.
