March 6, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan and Côte d'Ivoire discussed prospects for energy cooperation, including joint projects in the oil & gas sector, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).

The discussions took place during SOCAR president Rovshan Najaf's visit to Abidjan.

Within the visit of the delegation consisting of representatives of the Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Ministry and SOCAR, a number of meetings were held with senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the energy sector of Côte d'Ivoire.

The Azerbaijani Ministry was represented by Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and ministry staff.

During the meetings, a broad exchange of views took place on the issue of SOCAR's acquisition of a 10% stake in the Baleine oil & gas field development project, including the stages of project development, production facilities, logistics and commercial issues.

The strategic importance of the project was highlighted in terms of expanding SOCAR's geographic reach in Africa and strengthening its position in international energy markets.
