U.S. set a record for LNG exports in 2025

February 25, Fineko/abc.az. By the end of 2025, the U.S. reached a historic high in exports of liquefied natural gas - 5.507 trillion cubic feet (156 bcm). Europe became the main market, which received around 68% of the total volume (106.6 bcm, +63% against 2024).

ABC.AZ reports that deliveries to Asia decreased by 37 % (27.3 bcm) and exports to Africa have almost quadrupled up to 12.6 bcm.

The five largest importers are the Netherlands (18.3 bcm), France (15.1 bcm), Egypt (12.3 bcm), Spain (10.6 bcm) and the UK (10.5 bcm), ensuring a total of 43% of exports.

December 2025 was a record month: 16.1 bcm were delivered (+38.6% against December 2024), 168 gas tankers, thanks to the new capacities at the Plaquemines plant and the active operation of the Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi terminals. Turkey became the leader in supplies in December (2.7 bcm), followed by the UK (1.9 bcm), Egypt (1.3 bcm), Germany (1.3 bcm) and the Netherlands (1.2 bcm), which made up 52.6% of December exports.

In December, the share of Asian deliveries declined to 12%, Europe increased its share up to 76%, and the rest was distributed among Latin American and African countries.
