February 24, Fineko/abc.az. Kazakhstan and France are collaborating on a mega wind farm project with capacity of 1 GW.
ABC.AZ informs that this became known following a meeting between Kazakh Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov and the top management of French energy giant TotalEnergies.
The largest wind power plant Mirny with capacity of 1 GW will be located in Zhambyl region. The uniqueness of the plant lies in its hybrid nature: in addition to wind generation, the complex will be equipped with a powerful 300 MW/600 MWh electric power storage system. This will help stabilize the output of power to the general network. The project involves the construction of 280 km of high-voltage lines for connection to the YUKGRES and SHU substations.
