February 10, Fineko/abc.az. The Action Plan of seven Azerbaijani cities participating in the Covenant of Mayors East is ready.

ABC.AZ informs that Christophe Frering, Team Leader of the EC “Covenant of Mayors East” regional project, made this statement at an event organized jointly by the Ministry of Energy and the European Union as part of the Covenant of Mayors Initiative.

According to Frering, out of 9 Azerbaijani participating cities, 7 cities have already prepared action plans: "This is a pretty good indicator. It shows that cities are responsible and are working to prepare action plans. In general, these cities represent 9% of the country's population. Of course, this is less than in other countries, where the connection of the capital covers 20-30% of the population. At this stage, these cities have committed themselves to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.3 million tons.

«Frering noted that connecting Baku to the initiative of the Covenant of Mayors would be very useful: "Because the participation of large cities in such an initiative has serious effect."
