Japan's Marubeni has transported hydrogen in metal hydrides first time

February 10, Fineko/abc.az. Japan's Marubeni has carried out the world's first international transportation of hydrogen with the use of alloy of metal hydrides.

ABC.AZ informs that the alloy absorbed "green" hydrogen produced in Australia, and then was shipped by container ship to Indonesia. It took about a year for Marubeni to go through customs procedures and overcome other regulatory hurdles. To diminish the risks and costs of hydrogen transportation, Marubeni has focused on metal hydride-based alloy technology.

The exact composition has not been disclosed, but an alloy of iron and titanium is assumed.

The new alloy is packed in thin cylinders around 5 m long and about 17 cm in diameter. Each cylinder can hold close to 4 kg of hydrogen.
