Money transfers from Russia to Azerbaijan declined to $343 million

February 5, Fineko/abc.az. The money transfers from Russia to Azerbaijan decreased by 16.3% in 2025.

ABC.AZ informs that according to RBC research, the volume of money transfer transactions from Russia to Azerbaijan lowered from January to September 2025 to $343 million. In 2021, the amount of transfers reached $623 million, but by the end of 2024, this figure had already fallen to $410 million.

The RBC report notes that in general, in 2025, inidividuals’ money transfers from Russia to neighboring countries such as Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia declined significantly, with the sharpest decrease observed in transfers to Armenia - nearly 60%.

According to some experts, drop on money transfers from Russia to Azerbaijan is linked with continued outflow of Azerbaijani citizens from Russia due to seasonal factors, stricter regulatory requirements for transfers abroad and stricter migration controls.

According to official statistics, if at the beginning of 2025 the number of Azerbaijani citizens officially registered in Russia was 331,000, by the end of the year this figure declined to 224,000.
