January 29, Fineko/abc.az. Since the beginning of the year, oil supplies to Cuba have amounted to only 84,900 barrels (~3,000 b/d) against 37,000 b/d in 2025, with reserves of nearly 460,000 barrels (Kpler).
ABC.AZ informs that the media reports about U.S.’ plans to increase pressure upon Cuba, including an oil blockade. Venezuela and Mexico have suspended oil supplies, which was indirectly confirmed by the authorities of these countries.
FT writes that with a further reduction in supplies, Cuba will probably have to introduce strict rationing of electricity, and regular blackouts are already observed in the country. Oil supplies from Russia and Algeria are extremely irregular: the last Russian one was in October 2025, and the Algerian one was almost a year ago.
