Wheat prices remain at their peak amid geopolitical risks

12:22 - 23.12.2025

December 23, Fineko/abc.az. Global wheat prices have been near their peak levels since December amid the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which has increased the risks of supply disruptions from the Black Sea region.

ABC.AZ informs that against this background, wheat futures in Chicago remain stable after rising by 1.7% a day earlier, returning the "military premium" to prices. Additional support for the market is provided by expectations of lower yields in Russia, the world's largest grain exporter, as well as ongoing tensions in global logistics routes due to the sanctions blockades in Venezuela.

Prices for corn and soybeans remained virtually unchanged.
