October 21, Fineko/abc.az. Unfortunately, at the moment, the products of Azerbaijani enterprises are sold on the stock exchange through mediators, both Belarusian and foreign ones.
ABC.AZ reports that the relevant statement was made by Yaroslav Kovalchuk, the head of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BOOTB).
He added that cotton fabrics, coarse calico, aluminum tape and bentonite powder can be noted among such goods. In 2024-2025, volume of Azerbaijani products sold through mediators reached approx. $1.4 million.
«We’ve already sent information about these transactions to the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) and the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (KOBIA). In addition, similar data will be shared with the manufacturers themselves so that they can assess the scale of their product sales and possibly decide whether to enter the stock exchange directly. We sincerely hope that this will be an incentive for them to participate in the bidding.
«I would like to emphasize that our exchange is a state-owned organization, and its activities are aimed not so much at commercial gain as at fulfilling government tasks, in particular, at saturating the domestic market with sought-after goods.
Azerbaijan, as you know, is an oil and gas country, and petroleum products are of interest to the Belarusian market. We see significant potential for Azerbaijani suppliers to directly offer such products at our auctions. The wider the range of Azerbaijani products presented, the more profitable it will be for both sides,» he said.
Today, the Exchange has already accredited two brokers from Azerbaijan.
