September 10, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey’s state-owned energy company BOTAS and the British corporation BP have signed a three-year agreement for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG). According to ABC.AZ, this was announced by Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, at the Gastech 2025 forum in Milan, Turkiye Today reports.
The supply volume will be about 1.6 billion cubic meters per year, or 4.8 billion cubic meters over the entire contract period. The minister noted that the agreement will enhance supply security during the winter, increase diversification of gas sources, and provide greater commercial flexibility. He also stated that Turkey’s domestic energy consumption is growing rapidly: the country currently uses about 350 TWh of electricity annually, and this figure may triple in the next 30 years.
