Russia Increases Electricity Purchases from Azerbaijan by Nearly 47%

August 21, Fineko/abc.az. In January–June of this year, about 61.1 million kWh of electricity were exported from Azerbaijan to Russia.

According to the State Statistics Committee, revenue from electricity exports in this volume amounted to $2.7 million.

Compared to the same period last year, electricity exports to Russia increased by 6.9 million kWh (12.8%), and in value terms by $865,000 (46.7%).

At the same time, in the first six months of 2025, 41.5 million kWh of electricity worth $1.4 million were sold from Russia to Azerbaijan. This figure is $71,000 (5.3%) higher in value terms, but 5.4 million kWh (11.5%) lower in volume terms compared to the same period last year.

It should be noted that in January–June 2025, Azerbaijan exported electricity worth $38.5 million in the amount of 679.8 million kWh to four countries — Russia, Georgia, Iran, and Turkey.

During the reporting period, 79 million kWh of electricity worth $3.2 million were imported into Azerbaijan from Russia, Georgia, and Iran.
