July 9, Fineko/abc.az. The aim of the two-day discussions is to find balance between international energy security, access to energy resources and emission reduction, ABC.AZ reports, quoting OPEC Secretary General Haytham al-Qais as saying this during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 9th OPEC International Seminar.

It was noted that the OPEC International Seminar, founded in 1969 and held in modern format since 2001, brings together senior ministers and leaders of the energy sector and serves to discuss key topics of the global energy sector.

This year is the 65th anniversary of the founding of OPEC, and at the same time marks the 60th anniversary of organization's headquarters in Vienna. The Secretary General thanked the Austrian State for the hospitality extended over the decades.

In his speech, the Secretary General also noted that a panel discussion "From COP29 to COP30" will be organized within the OPEC International Seminar.

"In my opinion, there cannot be a more appropriate platform than this group in terms of assessing the current state of the COP discussions and determining their future direction," he said.
