June 25, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan, in cooperation with Turkey, is planning to launch local production of agricultural drones this year.
ABC.AZ reports, quoting Anar Jafarov, the director of the Center for Agrarian Innovations, that as part of the recent bootcamp in Zangilan, Sapmaz Air Transport & Advanced Technologies Industry, one of Turkey's largest companies in the field of agricultural drone production, reached an agreement with a local company and the Baku Engineering University.
"Legal work relating to production is currently underway. In the coming months, the parties will begin specific work. The drones will most likely be produced in the university's laboratories and park," Jafarov said.
He also noted that agricultural drones will be produced mainly for the local market. This project will expand the use of innovative technologies in agriculture in Azerbaijan and help meet the high demand of the local market.
Currently, agricultural drones are imported in Azerbaijan mainly from Turkey and China with special permits.
