May 6, Fineko/abc.az. Swiss bank Credit Suisse will pay close to $511 million to the U.S. Department of Justice to settle a criminal case of collusion with American taxpayers in order to conceal more than $4 billion in 475 offshore accounts.

ABC.AZ informs that this is stated in a published written statement by the American department.

As noted in the document, this conspiracy allowed "ultra-wealthy and wealthy private clients" of the Swiss corporation to evade taxes in the U.S. from 2010 to 2021.

"Thus, Credit Suisse AG committed new crimes and violated the plea agreement concluded with the U.S. in May 2014," the Department of Justice says.

The company pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to assist in the preparation of false tax returns in a Virginia court.
