Central Bank of Turkey lowers discount rate

March 6, Fineko/abc.az. A regular meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Turkey (CBT) has been  held today.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank, that at the meeting it was decided to reduce the discount rate by 2.5% - from 45% to 42.5%.

Thus, the Central Bank lowered the discount rate for the third time in a row.

Annual inflation dropped to a lower level than expected in February - 39.05%. This figure is lower than the peak, which exceeded 75% in May 2024, which confirms Central Bank's expectations of a continued decline to the target of 5% over several years.
