March 4, Fineko/abc.az. 1,233 cryptocurrency ATMs mysteriously went down in the U.S. on the first weekend of March, just days after the senator introduced the Cryptocurrency ATM Fraud Prevention Act, designed to put an end to fraud involving cryptocurrency ATMs.
ABC.AZ reports that on February 25, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin proposed a bill aimed at combating fraud in crypto atms in the U.S., citing a recent incident involving one of his constituents. His offer came the same month that 860 new cryptomats were installed in the U.S.
The ATM network recorded a net decrease of 1,100 machines, of which 1,233 were in the U.S. The closures were slightly offset by new installations in Europe, Canada, Spain, Poland, Australia and Switzerland, according to Coin ATM Radar.
