February 21, Fineko/abc.az. Last year, Azerbaijan increased imports of gasoline AI-92 from abroad up to 262,400 tons.
ABC.AZ reports that the figure is 3-fold more than in 2023.
Azerbaijan has paid $225 million to its trading partners for the import of gasoline.
A ton of imported gasoline cost the country an average of $861 (1,463 manats). Although it is cheaper than $926 in the previous year, the retail price set by the Tariff Council from July 1, 2024 exceeds the figure of 1,289.82 manats/ton. This price is even higher than the retail price, that is, 1,441 manats, aimed at selling from gas stations.
The price of AI-92 automotive fuel with octane rating below 95 was increased by the Tariff Council by 10% from the second half of 2024.
Last year, 54%, or 141,740 tons of imported gasoline was bought from Russia, 44,000 tons from Belarus, 32,000 tons from Lithuania and 31,000 tons from Romania.
Unlike last year, imports from Turkmenistan have decreased this year.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in 2024, the Azerbaijani oil refinery produced up to 124,000 tons of AI92 gasoline (7% more against 2023).
