February 11, Fineko/abc.az. Turkmenistan has agreed with Turkish company Botas on the transit of its natural gas through Iran under the swap scheme.
ABC.AZ informs, referring to official newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan, that chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said about this during a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian,
Berdimuhamedov added that in order to increase cooperation in the field of electric power industry, Turkmenistan proposed to lay a section of a power transmission line from the Mary hydroelectric power station to the Iranian border in the Mary-Mashhad direction. According to the chair, the necessary negotiations have already taken place and a corresponding document has been signed: it is envisaged that the project will be implemented by Iranian companies.
The chair of the People's Council named transport as one of the main areas of cooperation. He stressed that Turkmenistan and Iran occupy an advantageous geographical position at the junction of Asia and Europe, between the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf, which opens the way for both countries to have constructive partnership in the transport and logistics sector.
