Copper prices drop amid Trump's announcement to impose new duties on China

November 26, Fineko/abc.az. Copper prices are declining after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's plans to impose additional export duties on goods from China, ABC.AZ informs, referring to Bloomberg.

Trump said that the U.S. will impose additional duties of 10% on Chinese goods. This led to an increase in the dollar index, which negatively affects the value of non-ferrous metals, including copper.

Concerns about weak demand prospects from China, the largest consumer of metals, also have negative impact on the cost of copper.

Prices for copper are down 0.6% to $8,993.5 a ton at the London Metal Exchange, aluminum by 0.9% and nickel by 0.4%.
