September 2, Fineko/abc.az. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Wednesday that commercial airlines, the maritime industry, and digital assets could face targeted sanctions as the Trump administration intensifies its campaign to squeeze Iran’s economy.

Bessent highlighted that the Treasury Department has mapped the key nodes and financial networks Tehran utilizes to bypass sanctions and move illicit revenues.

Under the administration's "Operation Economic Outcast," Washington is expanding secondary sanctions risks to cover critical lifelines, including aviation, shipping, gold, and digital asset transactions, in a bid to isolate the regime from the global dollar system.
