November 25, Fineko/abc.az. Iran has temporarily stopped exporting gas to Iraq, which has significantly lowered electricity generating in Baghdad, southern and central Iraq.
"The Iranian side informed us that because of reconstruction of export gas pipelines, they suspended gas exports for 15 days, and as a result, the national grid lost 5,500 MW of electricity," Ahmed Musa, ABC.AZ reports, quoting a spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Energy.
According to Musa, the shutdown coincides with repair work at some Iraqi power plants, and a sa result, electricity generation dropped to less than 15,000 MW.
