Almost $83 bn worth of gold reserves discovered in China

November 21, Fineko/abc.az. Gold reserves have been discovered in China, the value of which, according to preliminary estimates, is $82.8 billion, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Geological Department of the central province Hunan, where the deposit was discovered.

Experts have discovered over 40 gold-bearing veins at depth of more than 2,000 m at Wangu gold deposit in Pingjiang County. It is noted that a total of 300.2 tons of gold reserves were discovered in the main exploration area, where the highest gold content in the ore was 138 grams per ton.

China is one of the world's largest gold producers – according to the World Gold Council, it accounted for about 10% of gold production in 2023.
