November 19, Fineko/abc.az. The Iranian Oil Terminals Company (IOTC) is implementing new projects to improve the infrastructure for oil exports on Kharg Island, ABC.AZ reports, quoting company’s head Abbas Asadruz.
He stressed the strategic importance of strengthening the export infrastructure on the island, noting that repair and reconstruction of the western pier of the island is a big step in development of oil exports from the country.
According to Asadruz, reconstruction of the mentioned berth will not only increase safety, productivity and efficiency, but also change the country's oil export infrastructure.
With the start of the project in the near future, production capacity of the western pier will increase significantly, iran.ru writes. Oil export facilities will be better prepared to create new strategic opportunities.
Kharg is a continental island in the Persian Gulf in south of Iran. The island is located 25 km (16 miles) off the coast of Iran and 483 km (300 miles) northwest of the Strait of Hormuz.
