October 11, Fineko/abc.az. India exported 144,500 tons of tea for Jan-Jul 2024 (almost 24% more versus the 2023 same term).

ABC.AZ informs that this is stated in the report of Indian government agency Tea Board of India.

According to the Tea Board, India exported 144,500 tons of tea abroad in the period from January to July this year. During the same period of 2023, exports amounted to approx. 117,000 tons.

A noticeable increase in tea exports may be associated with a drop in the price of this product. This year, the average value of this indicator is about 256 rupees per kg. Last year, the export growth was about 265 rupees per kg.

Despite the drop in price, the amount earned by India for the sale of tea on the world market turned out to be noticeably higher. It amounted to approx. 37 billion rupees ($440 million). Last year, this value was approximately 31 billion rupees ($368 million).
