BTC pipeline achieves record-breaking oil transportation in July

August 26, Fineko/abc.az. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline transported a record-breaking 2.7 million tons of oil in July 2024, surpassing its usual monthly average of 2.5 million tons, as reported by ABC.AZ citing data from the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation.

The total oil transportation through the BTC pipeline for the first seven months of 2024 reached 17.4 million tons, marking a 2.5% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.

The BTC pipeline, spanning 1,768 km across Azerbaijan (443 km), Georgia (249 km), and Türkiye (1,000+ km), primarily transports Azerbaijani oil, with additional volumes from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

The pipeline's construction began in April 2003, and it became operational in May 2005.
