August 23, Fineko/abc.az. Residents of the United Kingdom will have to pay almost 10% more for gas and electricity as global natural gas prices continue to rise.

ABC.AZ reports that starting from October 1 of this year, tariffs will increase to £1,717 per year, up from the current rate of £1,568, marking a substantial 10% hike. On average, each household in the country will spend an additional £149 per year on electricity.

Jonathan Brearley, head of the energy regulator Ofgem, acknowledged that such a price increase would be "extremely tough" for many families. He urged anyone who might be eligible for benefits to contact their energy company for assistance.
