Ukraine exceeds export limits to the EU

August 23, Fineko/abc.az. Exceeding the agreed limits for product supplies from Ukraine to the EU has triggered the EU's "emergency brake" in all agricultural sectors except corn and poultry.

ABC.AZ reports that on Tuesday, August 20, the European Commission discovered that the threshold for duty-free import of honey from Ukraine to the EU, equal to 18,507 tons, had been exceeded. Most-favored-nation tariffs will be applied to further supplies.

Thresholds have already been exceeded for oats, eggs, sugar, and cereals. The EU "emergency brake" applies to seven agricultural products. It is triggered as soon as product supplies reach the average annual level for the period from July 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023.

The Ministry of Agriculture proposes to limit wheat exports to 15.2 million tons in the 2024/25 marketing year. The Ukrainian Grain Association insists on a volume of at least 17 million tons.
