January 9, Fineko/abc.az. Global food prices declined by 13.7% in 2023. In December, prices decreased by 10.1% year-on-year.

Thus, the grain price index in December turned out to be 16.6% higher than in November, but the lag from the previous year remained. Under the influence of weather-related disruptions in the logistics systems of a number of major exporting countries and tensions in the Black Sea region, an increase in wheat export prices was recorded in December against the background of active demand, which declined for four consecutive months

The price index for vegetable oils fell by 1.4% in December after short-term increase in November.

In addition, in December, vegetable oil fell in price by 1.4% (32.7% year-on-year), and meat by 1% (1.8% year-on-year). While the price of sugar dropped by 16.6% at the end of the year, the annual growth was 14.9%. At that, prices for dairy products grew by 1.6%, and decreased by 16.1% in annual terms.
