December 15, Fineko/abc.az. The board of the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party of Azerbaijan at an expanded meeting on Friday approved the nomination of the current president of the country, Ilham Aliyev, as a presidential candidate in the early elections scheduled for February 7, 2024.

ABC.AZ reports that this decision was unanimously adopted at today's expanded meeting of the Board of the PEA.

The next presidential elections of Azerbaijan were to be held in 2025. On December 7, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on holding early presidential elections in Azerbaijan on February 7, 2024.

According to the Constitution, the President of Azerbaijan is elected for 7 years.
