Precious Metals Plunge on Escalating Fed Rate Hike Expectations

September 14, Fineko/abc.az. Precious and base metals faced severe selling pressure as sticky U.S. inflation data, Middle East geopolitics, and hawkish Fed commentary pushed the probability of a rate hike this week to 88%.

Fears of a slowdown in AI tech development further dampened market sentiment. Consequently, gold fell 1.5% to $4,284/oz, silver dropped 3.3% to $62.3/oz, platinum slipped to $1,757/oz, and palladium declined to $1,274/oz. In industrial metals, copper and aluminum dropped to $6.3/lb and $1.48/lb, respectively.
