November 20, Fineko/abc.az. Pakistan is negotiating with Azerbaijan, China and Russia to buy additional 200,000 tons of urea for sowing in the winter season this year.
ABC.AZ report that the Interim Federal Cabinet of Ministers made a decision on this based on the submission of the Ministry of Industry & Production and the Board of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority of Pakistan.
However, the Committee for Economic Coordination has not yet determined the price of the purchased products. An official of the Ministry of Industry & Production, Asad Rahman Gilani, said that temporary closure of local enterprises for 2 months put the country in the face of shortage of 200,000 tons of carbamide.
India is also listed as a competitor in the market to the mentioned 3 countries. But the participation of this country is excluded.
According to sources in China and Russia, the delivery of carbamide to Karachi can cost about $415-$420 for Azerbaijan. But this number may grow considering that last year Pakistan bought urea at higher price.
