September 14, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. state budget surplus in August amounted to $89.256 bn compared with deficit of $219.596 bn for August 2022, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Budget revenues decreased by 6.8% to $283.13 bn. Meanwhile, expenses fell by 63% to $193.875 bn. This was conditioned by the fact that the government did not spend $319 bn allocated for the student loan repayment program, since it was blocked by the Supreme Court.

For 11 months of the 2023 fiscal year, which ends on September 30, the negative balance of the U.S. budget increased 1.6-fold compared with the same period a year earlier - to $1.524 trillion.

The volume of revenues to the U.S. budget has decreased by 9.9% since the beginning of the current fiscal year, amounting to $3.972 trillion.

At the same time, expenses increased by 2.6% and reached $5.496 trillion. Basically, the costs increased under the Medicare and Medicaid health insurance programs, as well as in the social insurance system.
