July 4, Fineko/abc.az. Prices for flour and flour products, including bread, have increased in Iran.
ABC.AZ report s that the government cited the smuggling of flour to neighboring countries as the reason, throwing away more than 4,000,000 tons of bread a year as waste.
Iran's Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Jalal says that bread producers in the country have been provided with 10 percent subsidies.
The head of the Sangah Bakers' Union, Mohammed Suleiman, said they decided to keep the price because of the low subsidy.
Iranian official media write that the government has problems with the implementation of "smart plans" in this area: "Bread is sold several times more expensive than the government has established."
Subsidies have limited the production of bread. The government announced an increase in subsidies by 30-40% in accordance with the "smart plan". However, there is no mechanism for their application.
