Accounts Chamber: Events in Ukraine affect country's income from oil & gas transportation

12:09 - 20.06.2023

June 20, Fineko/abc.az. In the reporting year, income (transit fee) of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) from transportation of oil and gas through the country amounted to $4.2 million or AZN 7.2 million.

ABC.AZ informs that this is reflected in Accounts Chamber’s audit report on external state financial control event conducted on the "Audit of the formation and use of SOFAZ finances in the main directions".

The cause of the sharp decline in revenues from pumping oil and gas through Azerbaijan is linked with the ongoing conflicts in connection with the events in Ukraine and suspension of supplies via the Western Export Pipeline (Baku-Supsa) as a result of restrictions on transportation through the Black Sea.

"Although in 2022 the projected oil transportation was 30.9 million barrels, in the reporting year 7.22 million barrels of oil were actually carried through this pipeline," the conclusion says.
