Volume of non-cash payments in Azerbaijan has doubled

June 13, Fineko/abc.az. The non-cash payments using Apple iPad and Google Play amounted to AZN 327 million and AZN 107 million manats, respectively, for Jan-May 2023.

ABC.AZ reports that Central Bank of Azerbaijan’s general director Farid Osmanov said this during the Financial Technology Summit in Baku.

He added that as of the beginning of May, the number of cards in Azerbaijan increased by 18% (up to 14.5 million cards).

"Over 70% of these cards are contactless. I’d also like to note that for Jan-May, the volume of non-cash payments doubled up to AZN 12.2 bn. The weight of non-cash payments in total turnover grew by 11.8% to 52%. Payments on Apple Pay and Google Pay amounted to AZN 327 million and AZN 107 million, respectively," he added.
